Guest Services operates the year-round services at Bear Mountain State Park. The historic Bear Mountain Inn was renovated in 2012 to bring it back to its original splendor and offers 15 luxury suites, a full-service restaurant, and lounge, more than 20,000 square feet of meeting and catering space, a full-service spa, and The Bear Mountain Trading Company retail store.
Bear Mountain Inn was nominated to the 2021 Historic Hotels of America Awards of Excellence Finalist.
Assets overseen by Guest Services, Inc. also include the A.K. Morgan Overlook
Lodge and catering space. Additional services comprise four six-room historic stone lodges with lake views and fireplaces, Cliff House catering space, Merry Go Round Pavilion concessions, Hessian Lake boat rentals, “Stand10” concessions, Hiker’s Cafe, and special
events such as the Oktoberfest celebration held September through October, which welcomes more than 15,000 visitors per day.
SUCCESS IN OPERATIONS
In 2009, the lodging component comprised of 48 guest rooms in Overlook Lodge and
the Stone Cottages, with the 15-room historic Inn closed in the throes of a lengthy
renovation. Since 2009, Guest Services has steadily grown occupancy throughout the
Bear Mountain properties.
Renovations at the inn, originally built in 1915, finally concluded in mid-2012 with
assistance from the partnership between New York State Parks and Guest Services,
Inc. The scope of work added a full complement of amenities for our guests,
including a full-service restaurant and bar, spa, café, and nearly 20,000 square feet of
stunning meeting space.
In 2022, Guest Services plans include several renovation projects including
structural enhancements to Stand 10 and Hikers Cafe. The Hessian Lake Boathouse
renovation will feature an additional 30 boats creating an opportunity for 40-50%
incremental revenue in boat rentals. The exterior deck will be reconstructed as
well as completed bathtub refinishing in all guest rooms.
Restaurant 1915 was recently named by MSN as one of America’s 10 Best Restaurants in Parks. Restaurant 1915 features an eclectic mix of global cuisine utilizing local and sustainable ingredients. Guest Services manages Restaurant 1915 and Bear Mountain State Park’s two other unique dining options; 20,000 square feet of catering and event space; and lodging at the Bear Mountain Inn, Overlook Lodge, and Stone Cottages.
Our focus continues to be on the implementation of all local sourcing (farm to table) and scratch kitchens for catering events, bar and restaurant cuisine.
Continued special events such as “Breakfast with Santa” and holiday light decorations serve as a major draw of excitement for patrons to the park during the winter season.
