25th Anniversary of The Legend at Giants Ridge

Celebrating One of Our Most Influential Partnerships

The last five years have seen an unprecedented amount of developments on the world stage, in the United States, and in our own organization. Even during such a tumultuous time, we saw the development of one of our most influential partnerships.

On Tuesday, June 28, 2022, we celebrated the 25th Anniversary of The Legend Golf Course at Giants Ridge. This landmark event welcomed stakeholders, media members, Guest Services leadership, and more from all over the country to honor one of America’s most renowned golf destinations.

Another ‘Giant’ Success Story

From local legislators to company execs and CEOs, all those in attendance were grateful for the course’s success and appreciative of the opportunity to enjoy The Legend.

“It was a great event. We got out to play and spend time with a lot of good people, including many of the major stakeholders and partners. It was also timely, as we are the beneficiary of a recently renewed contract there for another at least five years with the opportunity to extend,” says Nico Foris, CEO.

“It went really well. We’ve actually only seen about a fraction of the media that will result from the event. The Forbes article has been released, there’s been buzz throughout the state, and everyone I talked to, from state legislators to locals and even the course architect himself, Jeff Brauer, was grateful for it going so well,” says Steve Rahkola, Director of Sales & Marketing at Giants Ridge.

As the summer and fall seasons come to a close, the Giants Ridge team is looking forward to their Rock the Ridge concert and Mountain Bike Race before they start switching gears to the winter season. We look forward to building on the success of the 25th Anniversary Event!

January is the New December for Corporate Holiday Parties

Corporate parties are great for morale boosters and getting employees together, but parties in December aren’t always the most convenient for everyone. This year, wait the extra month to host your holiday get-together!

January is the new December for corporate parties, and here are six reasons why:

1. It’s more convenient for the employee

December is one of the busiest times of the year for everyone. Parties can add to the holiday stress, so waiting until January allows time for schedules to free up, and the season is slowing down for gathering together to celebrate.

2. More dates to choose from

Around the holidays, widespread availability is few and far at amazing event spaces during the holiday season, unless you book back in July. Skip the scheduling mess this year and wait until January for your planned corporate party at the place everyone loves!

3. It boosts company morale

After the holidays come to an end, morale can seem to fizzle out. Speed up the slower days by hosting your corporate party in January! Keeping employees motivated can seem tough, but not as much when there is something to plan and look forward to.

4. January is great for team-building exercises

Aside from the planned holiday party, the start of the new year can be a great time to get employees together for team building and collaborative exercises. Start the year strong by strengthening communication and collaboration among your employees.

5. Great way to kick off a new quarter

A new quarter means new goals and new tasks for employees. This thought can be daunting for some, so alleviate the nerves with a corporate party where employees can unwind and take time for themselves.

6. It’s cheaper!

Are you worried about expenses for corporate parties this year? Wait until January and save some money this time around, especially when booking your party outside of the office.

Amazing Food Options on the National Mall

We have exciting news to share from the Washington, DC area: over the course of the last several months, our culinarians in the Operations Division, led by Chef Russell Baratz, have developed and executed a new series of menus for our nine kiosks on the National Mall. What is extraordinary about this effort is that six of the nine kiosk menus feature specialties that are unique to each of their locations (in addition to temporary LTOs), and throughout the system (in addition to the tried-and-true items that always will be popular) we have incorporated a wide variety of “healthy” foods: our FitPicks menu (where a main dish and a side will net at under 600 calories); lean proteins; vegetarian, vegan and kosher items; and gluten-free selections. The National Park Service is thrilled with our new program, and we have earned some nice media coverage: Below you’ll see a link to a segment from Good Morning Washington starring Chef Russell, and we also were featured on our local Fox affiliate.

Not the least of our excitement centers around our new mobile-responsive website that offers park visitors the opportunity to see what’s available at the kiosks BEFORE they even venture onto the Mall. Browse the site and see what we’re offering; we hope we can tempt you to come visit!
