October 18, 2024 | Uncategorized
This year’s Oktoberfest at Bear Mountain brought fresh excitement while preserving its beloved traditions. New attractions like axe throwing were a big hit, drawing guests of all ages, while expanded kids’ activities, including face painting and henna tattoos, made it more family-friendly than ever. These new additions helped to engage a broader audience and create a more inclusive atmosphere.
Traditional favorites like the Stein Holding Contest returned, with participants testing their strength for a chance to win exciting prizes. Alongside the competition, live music performances filled the air, while a bouncy slide and house kept the kids entertained. Guests also enjoyed an array of food vendors offering treats like kettle corn, candied nuts, empanadas, and pottery. A special highlight was the presence of the Broken Swords Military Foundation, which brought military displays and the opportunity to meet a retired World War II General, adding a unique and educational element to the event.
The culinary offerings also saw some exciting additions this year. The customizable Waffle Station allowed guests to create their perfect dessert with toppings like chocolate, caramel, and vanilla ice cream. The new Pierogi Trailer delighted guests with savory potato and cheese pierogis, accompanied by warm sauerkraut and cheese sauce. The Sweet Station featured traditional German favorites, including apple strudel and pumpkin cheesecake, while the Wine Bar served a selection of Riesling, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir, giving guests a taste of fall in every sip.
A special thank you goes out to all the team members who played a crucial role in bringing this year’s Oktoberfest to life. From planning and coordination to on-site execution, your hard work and dedication made this event a success. Your efforts in organizing new attractions, managing logistics, and ensuring everything ran smoothly are deeply appreciated. The creativity and passion each of you brought to the table helped create unforgettable experiences for our guests. Thank you for making this year’s Oktoberfest Series one to remember!
What’s Next At Bear Mountain?
While Oktoberfest is the highlight of the fall season, General Manager Levon Bedrosian and his team are already gearing up for more exciting events at Bear Mountain. Early next year, a Winterfest will transform the property into a magical “Winter Wonderland” experience. Plans include a Chowder Station and Chili Station featuring several varieties, live ice carving and wood carving demonstrations, and winter characters roaming the property for photo opportunities. The possibility of horse-drawn sleigh rides around the main field between the Inn and Carousel facilities is also being explored. Levon mentioned that special menu options for the 1915 Restaurant are currently under discussion, promising guests even more to look forward to.
Looking ahead to early spring, Bear Mountain will host Food Truck Fridays, bringing 5-7 different food trucks each week to offer a variety of delicious options. While details are still being finalized, this event promises to be a mouth-watering way to welcome the warmer months.
With another successful Oktoberfest in the books, Bear Mountain is excited to continue delighting guests with seasonal events that celebrate both tradition and innovation. Stay tuned for more information about Winterfest and Food Truck Fridays, as well as the classics like Breakfast with Santa that are still to come.
